Jens Irish - Live @ Altered. Wednesday Social - 11-30-11
December 01, 2011 08:45 PM PST
Live recording from my weekly show Altered. Wednesday Social at the Compound/Basix in Denver, CO. This is a truncated recording. In actuality the whole set is about 2 1/2 hours longer (this particular slice represents the middle of the evening), and it's definitely more varied in format...well, it's pretty much all deep house, but the first hour starts, like, wicked slow - about 111 BPM, lots of Toby Tobias sextasticness - and builds from there, while the last 1 1/2 hours get noticeably darker...dirtier. I have the whole thing available for those who request it; get in touch with me via email. (And I'm assuming those of y'all who would go through the trouble already have my email, or are connected to me in a way that makes obtaining my email easy, like Facebook, Google+, etc.) Setlist:

Live recording from the P.U.N.C.H.I.S. presents: ZooLogiko NYE 2011 party in the Beatport Lounge at Beta. Incredible evening! Angel Castro and myself (Jens Irish) engaged in an all-out battle royale from 9:00-11:30pm, shamelessly taunting one another to get crazier and crazier, in a (roughly) 1/2 hour switchoff format. As always, the crowd only made things worse...jibing us with an insatiable demand to get even naughtier and nastier, forcing us to push the brand new BPL Funktion One soundsystem to its absolute outer limits... Set breakdown: Jens Irish: 15:20 - 45:37
Angel Castro: 45:37 - 1:17:00 Jens Irish: 1:17:00 - 1:38:25
Angel Castro: 1:38:25-2:00:15 Jens Irish: 2:00:15 - End

Live recording from P.U.N.C.H.I.S. Zoologiko after hours on 10-23-10. Jens Irish - P.U.N.C.H.I.S. pres: ZooLogiko @ Beatport Lounge 09-10-10September 18, 2010 01:08 PM PDT
Live recording of my opening set for "P.U.N.C.H.I.S. Pres: ZooLogiko Fridays" in the Beatport Lounge at Beta on 09-10-10. I gotta say, I'm pretty damn psyched about how this set turned out...I had the 9-10:30 opening slot, and there wasn't really any sort of high-energy-demanding crowd present until towards the end of the set, so I ended up being able to experiment with some deeper, more atmospheric tracks that I normally wouldn't get to play. The result: A ssssexy(?), more experimental, melodic-oriented affair, and - in my opinion - my best live recording to date. Hope you like! Tracklist:

This li'l mix here was inspired by a phenomenal show I played with Jeff Bartosik (P.U.N.C.H.I.S.) and Greg Campbell at Opal in Denver last Friday. We played primarily house/deep house, which I haven't really been able to play live since last summer (missed it somethin' fierce), and the vibe at the lounge was... just superb... you couldn't have asked for a better evening! Only problem was, the record output on the mixer wasn't working, so I wasn't able to record the set... Still freshly inspired by Friday's experience, I was messing around on my tables this evening, and decided to hit record. Result: a very mellow set, some screwups here and there...but overall the standout moments made me feel like sharing Enjoy! Jens Irish: Beta 12-11-09March 03, 2010 07:34 PM PST
This is a set I played with P.U.N.C.H.I.S. at Beta last December for our party "The Techno Sessions: II", and I wanted to share it with ya'll. There was such a weird, compelling energy in the room that night…very dark and irresistibly creepy…. I remember being in a horrendously bad mood driving to the show (for reasons completely unrelated to anything having to do with the party that night), then walking into Beta and having this really dramatic shift in mindset. Jeff Bartosik was opening with this meticulously thoughtful, incredibly deep set…treating any sort of genre distinctions between deep house and techno with utter disdain…getting subtly darker and darker as the set progressed…I was totally captivated by it, and by the time it was my turn to inherit the reins, I was in the mood to play out a slow burner, get as hypnotic and creepy as I possibly could. P.U.N.C.H.I.S. consistently has one of the greatest, most loyal crowds out there coming to see our shows, constantly positive and responsive, and that night I really felt like we were feeding off each other. It was the first time I've ever felt utterly connected with the crowd, and by the end of the set I was having this incredible feeling of depersonalization, like any sort of boundary between myself, the crowd, and the music had just completely evaporated. Very awe-inspiring experience. When I finished, Diizel and Angel Castro manned the decks and, like always, took the music to a level I hadn't really considered possible, and I sorta just walked around in a daze, completely beside myself for the rest of the show. So yeah, I wanted to share it Track listing:

About Jens IrishAs one of the main protagonists behind the so-called Mannheim sound, Jens Irish, for the past four years, has quietly established himself as a name to be reckoned with in the Denver Colorado underground music scene. With his sets primarily known for developing a sustained, intimate connection with the audience through the slow buildup of hypnotic, moody elements and a focus on melodic interaction, Jens’ fundamental motivation is to impart upon the crowd a coherent, systematic journey into sound that plays itself out over the entire performance. In 2009, Jens was inducted into the P.U.N.C.H.I.S. collective, a group of passionate Denver DJs and music enthusiasts, founded with the intention of creating wholly unique, forward-thinking dance parties, and motivated by an obsession for the latest in cutting edge, underground electronic music sampled from around the world. Quickly assembling a dedicated following, P.U.N.C.H.I.S. now stands as one of Denver’s best kept secrets in Deep/Tech House, and Techno. Drawing inspiration from within the P.U.N.C.H.I.S. framework, Jens’ sound has steadily continued to evolve. Injecting his unique spirit and personality into every note, transition and programming decision, he tells a story with each set…and definitely one that’s best experienced live! With ongoing performances with P.U.N.C.H.I.S. at Beta (recently named 1 club in the US and 23 overall by DJ Mag) one can hopefully only expect great things to come. Followers
